Exploring the Dark Zone. No one can see in total darkness or can you…  there's almost always some light available. Even if it's only dim starlight.

Night vision, also called scotopic vision, is your natural ability to see in the dark. It kicks in when different components, in particular your pupils and retinas, work together inside your eyes. It can come in pretty handy when you need it.

Mid Night Hike along the Bhoot Bangla Trail



DATE: November xxx, 2022 (Saturday Night) - To be announced soon.

(Dates: either Nov 12th or Nov 19th, 2022)

Place for only 10 Participants.

 Experiences: A Fresh Experience of Medium Grade Mid-Night Trek in Matheran Forest following Trails of Old Bungalows, Occasionally be ready to be disoriented in the bhulbhulia forest trails that are sometimes moonlit and sometimes pitch dark. Exploring may take us to cliff edge trails overlooking endless valleys. 

 Location: Matheran

 Grade: Medium Grade (no steep slopes or serious climbs during the trek) - But be open minded. 

 Duration: Overnight (Refer to schedule below).

01:30 pm Merwan's Bakery, S. V. Road, Opposite BhrambaKumari Hospital. 

01:50 pm Western-Express Highway, BKC Juncation Signal (Near Bus Stop) 

02:15 pm Chembur - Diamond Garden

02:40 pm Vashi (Juntion of Station Road and National Highway, near Bus Stand below Fly Over

03:00 pm CBD Belapur, on Highway, after Roundabout below flyover

03:15 pm McDonald  (near Entrance of Mumbai-Pune Express Highway)

04:30 pm Dasturi Naka (near Matheran Entrance Ticket Counter)

Brief Introduction Session near Dasturi Naka before start of Hike.

8:00 pm Early Dinner in Market.

9:00 pm Night Trek along Spooky Trails till late night..

01:00 am Start return Trek

03:30 am Expected to be back at Dasturi Naka

06:30 am / 7 am Expected to be back in Mumbai

Attire and what to carry:

Track Pants or Leggings 
T-Shirt (Carry a spare t-shirt)
Trekking shoe or Tough Sports Shoe (If you are not wearing a trekking shoe, carry a spare pair floater or slippers)
Cap
carry a lite jacket or lite woollens for the night. 
2 Water Bottles
Scocks
Personal Medical Kit
Some Munchies (Biscuits / Chocolates / Fruits etc)
Flash Lights with spare batteries or 2 flash lights (note mobile lights will not be sufficient)
Trekking Pole or buy a stick from Matheran Market
Thin Bed Sheet or Yoga Mat or Sleeping Mat
Carry everything in a backpack
Stick with the group do not wander on your own into the forest


Do's and Don'ts 

To fully enjoy the trek plan a theme/surprises / spooky pranks along with friends.
Do not trespass or damage any property during the bhoot bangla trek
Keep your voice volumes low so that we do not disturb the local neighbors.
Follow eco-sensitive tourism (No littering; we carry back everything we brought with us)
Alcohol and drugs not allowed on the trek
(Smoking should not be done away from the group, and ensure that the leftover cigarette is properly extinguished before discarding.) 

FAQs?
How do I reach Dasturi Naka?
Take a local train to Neral Station, just outside Neral station at Cab stand you will get share cabs to Dasturi naka from here. 

 (note the cost is indicative can change as per local cab union policies)

Can we drive down till Dasturi Naka?
Yes you can drive down till Dasturi Naka; there is pay and park available at Dasturi Naka (Matheran) (No vehicles are allowed beyond this point). The drive from Neral to Dasturi Naka involves negotiating steep and narrow ghat route. So be beware.

What should be the size of Back Pack I should carry?
30 to 40 liters.

Will we see any ghosts?
We will be going through foot paths that will have old spooky houses that may not have been used for years. So if you find any un-usual experiences do share with us.

Will we have wash rooms where we are camping out?
No, answer Nature Call in Nature. We will get washroom at Restaurants/Railway Station we plan to have Evening Tea/Dinner etc.
